LOL.
Counting down the days till Blueprint 3 drops.
Following up on the last post....... we welcome another new brand from local designer Matt Grosso called How Alive Clothing. Matt, who is socially and politically aware, uses his views on the world as inspiration for his line. Nothing is off topic - from the f***** up photo radar system in AZ to government's using war to make money - each one of Matt's pieces have a message.
Here at Me Phi we like to keep an eye out for up and coming brands and designers...... especially if they're local guys or girls. Our buddy Curtis with All Nice was the first small local designer that we stocked and his brand has been a great seller in our shop. Just recently All Nice was picked up by the skate shop Industrial. Starting in late August you will be able to find All Nice in Industrial store's located in Chandler AZ, Glendale AZ, Las Vegas NV, and Albuquerque NM. We just wanted to say congrats to Curtis and wish him much more success in the future!
R.I.P.
Dope.
I know, I know........ we're waaaaay late but at least we're finally on. I had my reservations but our girl D Money showed me the bright light of the Twitterverse, lol. So to all of you on Twitter you can now follow us at www.twitter.com/TheMePhi. See you there!
Sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend. Me Phi went to Denver and kicked it with the A-Team, our homegirls from LA and NY, for a much needed mini vacay. It was nice to get out the AZ heat for a lil bit and enjoy the Colorado weather with close friends. We posted up at the crib and played some put-put golf, air hockey, Pac-Man, and rode the ATV's. On Saturday we had a chill BBQ and then hit up some spots in downtown Denver........ good times all around. We made it back late last night and hit the ground running. Stay tuned for pics and vid's of the weekend as well as new drops from your favorite brands!
New track from Lupe featuring Matthew Santos. Click the link below to listen.
Kanye jumped on Beyonce's latest single 'Ego' and the remix has been floating about for the last few weeks. He decided to take it to the next level (and show off his LV kicks) by shooting a vid for his part.
Now I'm off to scour American Apparel for a shiny/sequin-y/mermaid-ish leotard.
Once a year Javon throws a crawfish boil in our hometown of Lafayette, LA. The cookout is a big event so anyone and everyone is welcome to come by. This year there were fun jumps and a magic show for the kids, food for everyone, a fashion show, and our homie Cupid performed a couple songs from his album. We didn't get much footage b/c everyone was too busy eating to take pics, lol. I did record a lil bit from Cupid and DJ Chill's set but it's a lil shaky......it's not easy trying to film and dance at the same time.
One of the surprise brands in our shop has been Amongst Friends. AF doesn't have the name recognition like some of our other big hitters but they are still one of our best sellers. Their summer drop includes a couple tee's and the return of their belts. Their belts are dope and move fast so holla at us b/c we only have a limited quantity!
Rat Pack Tee
Vintage Coke Tee
Star Logo Belt - Red
Star Logo Belt - Yellow
AF Compass Belt
Big ups to Xpoz for doing a piece on the shop. The issue dropped today so cop it and check us out. Click here to read the article (we're on page 17). Check www.xpoz.com for more on the mag.
More often than not I'm dissapointed when I go to the movie theatre and watch a comedy. Most of the time all the funny parts were shown during the previews and the rest of the movie is lame. Thankfully, "The Hangover" will not be put in that category. We watched this last night and it was HILARIOUS! If you haven't seen it yet do yourself a favor and check it out....... you won't be dissapointed. Plus you'll know what the title of this post means.
Complex Magazine is more than just hot chicks in bikinis and Kanye quotes - they talk about clothes too. This week they prove they know what they're talking about by compiling a list of Spring '09's 5 Best Clothing Lines. Number 4 on the list - Me-Phi staple 3Sixteen.
COMPLEX #4 PICK: 3SIXTEEN
Complex Says: It was interesting to see what labels successfully made the transformation from t-shirt brand, to a well-rounded clothing brand. 3Sixteen is one of the few labels that stepped its game up tremendously in the last couple of years. When it comes to dope knits, and denim don’t expect them to fall off anytime soon.
Slamxhype Says: A few years ago there was a huge influx of tee shirt labels, then came the movement of those who were successful branching into cut and sew. To be honest not many have achieved this well, but 3sixteen have gone far and beyond. Without a doubt one of the best streetwear brands today. The brand has grown with its fans and this collection a testament to that, especially the jackets..
We'll....we can't argue with the experts. Stop by Me-Phi to check out the 3Sixteen Spring '09 Collection for yourself.
Don't forget to hit up First Fridays tomorrow night in Phoenix. While you're there check out the Fresh Fiends latest venture: Los Otras Hermanas. This is a benefit for economic development and protection of the women currently living and working in Juarez, Mexico. For the Las Otras website:
Popularized in the media as the “capital of murdered women,” Juárez has seen the murders of more than 450 women and girls since 1993. Many of them had been raped, beaten to death, and sometimes hideously mutilated. Some autopsies have revealed that victims were kept alive for days before being murdered. One-third of them were maquiladora workers on their way to or from work.
Hundreds more are missing.
The Fresh Fiends are fast making a name for themselves as a group of young women that care about the betterment of women everywhere and are willing to put their money where their mouths are.
Start bumpin this at work.
